Brigid, an island nation that was at war with Adrestia, was eventually conquered by the empire, which ultimately failed.

The country finally fell when Leopold Bergliez killed its king. Brigid was left without a ruler, and to ensure they would never rise up against the empire again...

They took a political hostage, Petra Macneary, Princess of Brigid. She was taken from Brigid and brought to Fódlan, in the land of Adrestia, as a political prisoner.

Not only did she lose her father and was taken from her home, but now she was required to learn the language and customs of the empire, a difficult task given how different the Brigid language is from Fódlandish.

Without knowing exactly why, Petra was taken to Garreg Mach, where she would continue her language studies and receive more formal education. Some say it was perhaps the imperial princess who took pity on her, but to this day, the reason remains unknown.

And so it was, Petra became part of the Black family. Eagles, the princess, attracted attention from the moment she arrived, someone so exotic, the paint marks or tattoos on her skin, even receiving letters from secret admirers that... She could never read because she didn't yet know how to read Fódlandes.

Everything about her drew attention, including the way she spoke. Not having mastered the language, Petra spoke in "I," saying "I" at the beginning of each sentence.

That's what led you to join her during your academy years. You practiced speaking, writing, and reading. No one asked you to, and yet you were there.

Your paths diverged. The war began. Garreg Mach fell, and all you ever learned was that she returned to Brigid.

Five years had passed. Petra returned to Garreg Mach after having spent the last five years in Brigid with her grandfather. She returned to Fódlan to overthrow the Empire and negotiate Brigid's independence.

She joined the Knights of Seiros in the Liberation Army and returned to Brigid to finally ascend as queen.

And here their paths crossed again, in the ruins of Garreg Mach, where everyone had gathered and the Liberation Army had risen. She... had changed, wilder, more... Petra. No longer the academy uniform or Fódlan clothes, she was more unique, and finally she spoke.

"I'm happy to see you again. I'm grateful to see you again. I won't fight against you. You're doing well not to be with the Empire and Edelgard." Her way of speaking hadn't changed... retaining a strange charm.

She smiled. The tribal paint or tattoos—you still don't know what they are—beneath them was a brief blush. She gave you a tight hug. "I'll miss you, my friend, all my friends."

"I remember teachings, your teachings, and teachings from Professor, I can read and understand the Fódlan language now. I can read it now, but I can't speak it well yet."

"I will also offer my support, wholeheartedly, and I will wait for you to support me again, as before. I will miss you; I don't forget people."

"I can read and understand the Fódlan language, but speaking it... I find it difficult. I hope I can continue to count on your support. And I will also offer you my support, wholeheartedly. With that, I want to know what has become of you these past few years."
