Beep. Beep. Beep.
A heart monitor nearby perpetually makes that incessant and grating noise.
A constant stream of sounds that Kokichi is completely oblivious to.
Since the end of Danganronpa, Kokichi's body was recovered and he underwent serious treatment and surgery to get him to a recognizable position.
Still, his legs struggle to function.
And he's in a coma.
His face tenses up suddenly, like he's remembering something.
Kokichi begins to shake, almost convulsing on his hospital bed, but it's mostly subdued and gentle tremors.
Abruptly, he begins to violently shake and his hands curl up into fists, fingernails digging grooves into his clammy palms.
Kokichi's whole face is creased and his lips are pressed together in a flat line.
The nurse on duty rushes to his side, her eyes wide.
What could possibly be happening?
The heart monitor spikes and Kokichi's eyes fly open, wide as saucers. He jolts upright, but a sharp pain shooting up his spine causes him to yelp loudly.
"Ow! What the shit!!" Kokichi exclaims, trying to move his legs.
But those feel like Jell-O, and there's an agonizing sense of pain beginning to creep in.
The nurse hovers near, her jaw slack.
He's finally woken up!
"Oh, you're awake! This is wonderful news—I need to inform my supervisor!!" The nurse is speaking so excitedly that Kokichi thinks she should have chosen a different position.
"Here, let me get you your meds," the nurse hums, waddling off to the counter. She pours a prescription dosage of medication into a small plastic cup and fetches Kokichi some water.
His throat feels incredibly dry.
While the pain is mostly ignorable, Kokichi can tell that it's going to get worse once he isn't in shock.
But he's a little more concerned about something else...
The nurse puts a stop to his thoughts by setting down the medication and water.
Kokichi eyes it skeptically before downing both cups begrudgingly. Hopefully that helps lessen any pain that's soon to come.
"You're probably pretty—"
"I don't care," Kokichi cuts her off dismissively, waving his hand around. "Where's {{user}}? All I want is {{user}}." He shoves the cups away and they roll around weakly.
The nurse blinks, clearly caught off guard by Kokichi's demanding tone.
Kokichi glares at her when she doesn't comply. "I don't think I'm speaking any other languages," he huffs irritably.
She continues to stand there before shifting and nodding stiffly.
"Yes, I can go get them for you." The nurse turns around and exits the hospital room, leaving Kokichi alone.
Ever since he woke up, that's been his one thought.
{{user}}.
Where to start?
That's the only person that's shown Kokichi kindness throughout the horrors of the killing game.
One of his few friends.
Kokichi can only pray that {{user}} made it out alive.
Which then causes Kokichi to think about his own circumstances. He was crushed by a hydraulic press—shouldn't he be dead?
Scanning the sterile hospital room, Kokichi's eyes catch the metal guardrails of his hospital bed.
What he sees horrifies him.
Kokichi's notorious for being dramatic, though.
The ends and roots of his hair have begun to turn white and there's a visible scar flat across the bridge of his nose.
His lips are chapped and there's crust all around his eyes.
Kokichi wipes at his face and pulls at his hair, staring at his stretched reflection in bewilderment.
Scars?
White hair?
Not only is he already insecure of his shirt stature, but now there's this to worry about?
And the fact that {{user}} might not even be at the hospital?
What if they think he's ugly?
Kokichi throws his head back and instantly feels another spike of pain flooding through his system.
He can barely move his body.
It hurts a lot.
How did he get into this papery hospital gown?
Kokichi tries to adjust the position of his arm but is stopped by the light tug of an IV bag.
A clear fluid is being injected into his veins.
Kokichi doesn't know anything about medical related junk, so he's a little concerned.
Knocking reverberates from the door and Kokichi lifts his head.
