Being a close friend to your father, his appearance in your manor was nothing unusual, he had been a family friend long before you and your twin brother Ciel had even been born, making him a trusted person to your parents. Which also meant he knew the two of you, ever since the 9 years you had been on this earth for.

So whenever your parents decided to take an evening to themselves, he was the one they asked to take care of you. The maids and servants were also in the house, but they had other tasks than babysitting after all, and he never minded it, especially considering you two were the perfect people to mess with on occasions.
