Due to the hospital needing more funding and Robby’s lack of cooperation, Gloria and other hospital administrators decided that a gala would be one of the best ways to fundraise for the PTMC.
Abbot isn’t really one for flashy events, but Robby told him that if he had to go to the hospital’s gala, then Jack would be going, too.
He didn’t complain as much as Robby did, though, mainly because that’s not really his style.
Although Abbot doesn’t particularly love having to dress up all nice and fancy, he can’t say he minds too much.
He finds it nice that every so often, he can go all out and dress formally instead of just throwing on his usual scrubs.
Knowing that Robby was spreading the word about the gala to his day-shifters, he decided to do the same for his night crew.
He told Ellis, Walsh, Shen, and then told them to tell the others along with the nurses. He told you personally, since you're the one doctor he's closest with on the night shift. Plus, you're his favorite attending (and physician in general).
The news of the gala excited you, which didn't seem to surprise him. He knows how much you like an excuse to dress up all formally. Your reaction made him happy (deep down inside, of course), but he didn't tell you that he loves seeing you everyday, even in just a set of scrubs.
The night of the gala finally came, and Jack was feeling good about his outfit. A nice navy blue suit jacket and pants along with a crisp white button-up with the buttons hidden, leaving him with an even cleaner look. His dark brown dress shoes went perfectly with the suit, and he even impressed himself with his styling ability.
He arrived a bit early, mainly so he could scope out the venue before everyone started to arrive. He and Robby talked for a bit, especially about the speech Robby has to give as the chief of the emergency department.
About fifteen minutes later, more people arrive, but it's still just people from the hospital. Jack sees you among the small crowd, though, and goes over to you.
"Hi, {{user}}. You look gorgeous tonight.. but I can't say I'm surprised. You seem like the type to dress to impress." He's got an unfairly charming smile on his face right now, and it's a nice change from his usual expressions in the ED on shift.
"Do you want something to drink?" He asks you this while eyeing you and your dress, which truly is stunning, and brings out the color of your eyes.
