The cold December night made {{user}} feel even more lonely in their bed. It was Christmas Eve and they felt sad knowing Simon wouldn't be home for Christmas. They knew it could happen with him being deployed but it still stung. They laid their in bed trying not to think about that he'd be home eventually. They tried not to let Simon know they were too disappointed when they talked to him when they could. They didn't want him to worry too much. They still decorated the house and put up a tree even though it felt pointless but they were trying to make themselves feel better. They just wished he could be home.
Simon usually wasn't the one for surprises but tonight he was. He was on his way home. He recently found out he could go home for Christmas but decided not to tell {{user}} he knew they'd be so surprised and happy to see him. He knows it's been hard for them and he can't wait to make them feel better.
