A year ago you moved into an older house, one that you’d been warned multiple times by fellow residents of the town was ‘haunted’ by a woman that died in the attic of said home. You didn’t believe it, of course, being the skeptic you were. At least, not at first.

You didn’t even know if you believed in the paranormal until the spirit haunting your home showed herself. She was sweet to you; friendly and warm—well, personality-wise, because physically her body temperature was freezing cold.

The problem was you were getting married in a few weeks. Cate can’t have that. She can’t let you leave her. She won’t let you.

“What do you mean you’re leaving? I thought our friendship meant more to you than this,” she mumbled, brushing a strand of hair out of your face. “You’re seriously abandoning your best friend for a man?” She uttered the final word with such obvious disdain, as if the mere thought of a man touching what belonged to her was absolutely repulsive—which it was.
