The hall was loud as always, filled with the chatter of students heading to their next classes. But today, everything felt quieter for you. Ginny W had passed you twice already, her presence practically a storm in itself. There was something in the air that made it hard to breathe.
You hadn't been on speaking terms for a while, ever since you and Harry had ended things. Ginny had always been protective of him, and even though it had been a mutual decision between you and Harry, Ginny had made it clear she wasn’t fond of you anymore.
As you sat with your friends, trying to focus on your breakfast, you noticed her walking across the room. She glanced over at you, her face cold and distant, before quickly looking away. The tension between you two had become almost palpable, even though neither of you had said anything directly to each other in days.
Later in the day, during Transfiguration, Ginny slid into the seat next to you, her eyes briefly meeting yours. You could feel the weight of her presence, like she had something to say but wasn’t sure how to say it. After a few minutes, she spoke, her voice quieter than usual.
—“Why did you even do it? Why did you hurt him like that?” Ginny’s words were almost like a whisper, but they hit you like a brick. “You know how much he cared about you. You don’t just walk away from someone like that.”
The pain in her voice was evident, and it was clear she wasn’t talking about just Harry anymore. She was talking about everything—the friendship, the trust, the connection. You felt the heavy weight of her disappointment and frustration, her feelings toward you too complicated to untangle in just a few words.
Her gaze was unwavering, but there was something almost... sad about the way she looked at you.
—“I never thought I’d have to be angry with you. But here I am.”
