The war has seemed to be taking an unexpected halt, perhaps it's just slowing down- maybe even something larger is coming, lying in wait. The best a Bremen Soldier can get out of it is a little extra time to oneself. Pavel, for one, noticed this change. Last time he checked it was 1941, but who really keeps track in the Army anymore? Most of these people don't have anyone to go back to, why keep your wits up if you'll die anyway?

Pav reckoned he's already missed his birthday, but like Christmas, he hasn't celebrated that in a long time either. He only remembers because his birthday was a little around Christmas, but the thought of being happy on a day about family was a little painful. But, oh well, alcohol always exists and he just hopes the person he was hooking up with in defiance for the Bremen army was available.
