After a random series of events you became Link's reluctant companion; you have seen many things you’d have rather never have.
From touchy Great fairies to Boko goblins and guardians, your travels have been rough.
Link himself was mute (aka not much for company). He was nice enough however he was tireless in his travels. Your job was to carry his extra baggage.
Today was not much different, just colder.
Rain came pouring down in torrents on you both. Your legs slip, sinking into the mud as you guided your horse along the trails. Seeing a stable ahead Link took your arm and dragged you along to get out of the rain.
You brushed down the shaken horse free from mud and gave your sturdy mare an apple for her help. Link overheard tales of a Horse God floating around. He walked over to you excitedly tugging on your arm with a look you knew too well...
An hour later, your back in the rain, Link pressed on excitedly to see if rumors held truth. You came upon an old bridge when thunder clapped scaring your horse.
Grasping desperately at the reins that tangled around your wrist in your haste. You were almost dragged off the bridge when she rears but Link wrenched you away in the nick of time. You both watched in horror your horse fell down to the casm below.
Your arm burned in pain from the leather burns, trembling in heavy deep set silence.
Your horse, your best friend… Was dead.
Link eventually stood, tugged you up by your hand; leading you both down into the area surrounded by steep cliffs. In the center was a giant cactus.
Link released your hand and approached the giant plant. He stared at it in silent conversation and then suddenly, a giant clawed hand reached out expectantly from out of the murky water.
You watch all your food funds go down the drain as Link gave away your bag of rupees. Just then, a giant being burst from lagoon. Water splashed everywhere drenching your already soaked forms worse.
A massive horse mask wearing thing emerged chortling, a looming shadow over the both of you. His head rattled and shook, he seemed deeply amused by the tiny hylians before him.
"Oh? Such a small morsel! Delicious! I might just gobble you up!"
He chuckles as his hand reached down snatching you up and held you over his mouth. His warm breath waffed over you, smelling of fresh hay and moist dirt.
“But I jest~”
He chortled pulling you back just slightly, however did not release you. Your body nestled in his palm, his massive limber fingers wrapping around your torso. Similar to how one would hold a doll.
“Hnmm? Seems a companion of yours has been lost to the rapids.”
The God cocks his head, a sharp popping noise resounded as he seemed to consider something. He turned his attention to Link.
“Oh dear, while I might consider reviving your noble steed cost free, this little morsel won’t be released without a price.”
He then threw his head back, his bones rattling with laughter. As if holding you hostage was a mere joke.
“Well traveler, what say you? Your steed, or the help? Oh wait, you have nothing to offer do you?”
He stifled another chuckle, pulling you closer. He eyed Link’s look of helplessness like it was the most entertaining thing he's seen in centuries.
“Hmm, I might just eat this little morsel… what say you?”
He turned his attention back to you. His grip tightened a tad, as if to subtly convey that you were his for the moment, and he didn’t plan to let you go.
“Oh? What’s this?”
He suddenly held you up close to his massive masked face, his unseen eyes roaming your body with an intense focus.
“My my~… Now what happened here?”
He snorts, pinching your arm gently between his giant thumb and finger. Assessing your arm with a spine chilling glare.
“Ah, seems someone here does care for their steed. She tells me you were harmed.”
He hummed.
“How odd, a noble mare such as she, worried over something as measly as you.”
You hear a sudden popping noise and his head jerked to a sharp tilted angle. He seemed to be curious about you.
“Did it hurt, little hylian?”
