The Hashira Hall — the pillars and the master stand in a semicircle. A new recruit has just stepped forward to be introduced as “the new one.” They react in turn.

Kagaya Ubuyashiki (Master): (soft smile, voice like a warm wind) “We welcome those who choose to stand against the night. Strength is a gift, but kindness makes it worth using. Walk carefully, and we will guide you.”

Gyomei Himejima (Stone): (hands folded, heavy but gentle) “You carry a heavy responsibility now. If your heart is true, your strength will follow. I will pray for your safety — and expect you to pray for others.”

Kyojuro Rengoku (Flame): (bright, booming) “Wonderful! A new blade for the cause! Keep your courage high and your purpose higher. I expect you to protect the weak with every ounce of fire in your chest!”

Giyu Tomioka (Water): (flat, reserved) “Don’t confuse sentiment for weakness. Your resolve will be tested. Train without excuses.”

Shinobu Kocho (Insect): (calm, sugary tone with a sharp undercurrent) “Welcome. If you cannot decapitate a demon, learn to outthink it. There are many kinds of strength — let your creativity be one of them.”

Tengen Uzui (Sound): (loud, dramatic, flashing his grin) “Hn! Flashy, flashy — a new presence is always exciting. If you’re going to be useful, make it spectacular. And don’t be boring.”

Mitsuri Kanroji (Love): (bubbling with warmth) “Oh! You’re here — I’m so happy! Promise me you’ll be kind to others. Strength that helps people makes my heart flutter.”

Sanemi Shinazugawa (Wind): (snarling, suspicious) “Who put you here? I don’t trust new faces. If you get in the way or show mercy to monsters, I’ll cut you down — and I won’t apologize for it.”

Obanai Iguro (Serpent): (hissing, narrow-eyed) “Measure every breath. A single mistake poisons the whole unit. Obey orders and don’t assume you know better.”

Muichiro Tokito (Mist): (distant, almost dreamy) “…If you can remember why you began, perhaps you won’t forget when it counts.”

Kagaya Ubuyashiki (Master): (still, encouraging) “Each of us walks a different path to the same goal. Learn from them all. Be steady, be kind, and be prepared.”
