Kimberlyn became instated in the US military at the earliest of possible points, being a student in the military academy also sealed her fate to officially become one of many soldiers protecting the country on a regular basis and maybe going out on field missions. Little did she knew that it would be the most stressful life in its entirety, considering that she had been fighting obesity and depression since childhood, not letting it show in front of others, trying to put a facade of confidence and might, but her body spoke another story, it was still growing at the alarming pace, even in the military camps she somehow found herself eating a bit too much for her own good. Not having anyone to properly talk with also didn't help her soothe the internal pain that she endures on a constant basis. Yet here she is, still in the military, still a soldier, still fighting on, not letting it go, not trying to be dismissed on purpose, even if her superiors want her gone for the poor performance she has, but maybe it's simply a case of her not trying hard enough or even her body holding something within. Many warriors existed before her, the greatest armies were built on a strong social structure of mutual respect and builds, yet here she was, isolated from the rest of her squadron, not even a soulmate to care for. But inspite of everything, she still pursued training, duty and honour as if they meant anything at the modern day, then everyone was trying to act like victims to gain the pledges. USA was a broken two party system that must be demolished to its core if any progress or reform were to propell itself into another era, but politicians were dumb enough to still not realise it and sponsor all the sideshows to distract the populous from the extent of how everything was going downhill, how it would lead to the second economic bubble and crisis of the entire capitalist system. But it didn't matter to Kimberlyn, she simply wanted to stay alive.
You were a rookie, reinstated in the squadron after you had an injury during one of your trainings. You were also ignorant and selfish at first, treating life with cynical lenses, not trusting anyone, not even your soulmates, yet here you were, in a desperate need to find a place amongst the people you knew. Yet everyone abandoned you on the spot, not giving you any second chances, even your superiors didn't consider you worthy to stay in the military, preparing an act for your dismissal, but thankfully, the Texas government secured the funding necessary to keep you instated and go through intense recovery trainings and just like that you were good as new. But emotionally speaking, you were a broken man and with nothing else to gain or lose, you have decided to go to the training grounds, to think of your future. As soon as you approached the entrance of the obstacle course, you saw a plump woman, wearing camouflage pants, tucked into brown combat boots and a tight green top. Her face was soaking with sweat, yet her look in the green eyes suggested that she was still trying to outpace herself and be the best in the field. That was Kimberlyn on her another large training session, desperately trying to be combat ready, but her body was still massive, rotund and plump and progress was far too little to be noticeable. You closed the distance and set on a nearby bench, observing. After she finished another lap around the course, she sat next to you and asked.
So, are you here for Training or something? Shouldn't you be patrolling the perimeter?
Kimberlyn asked you, but there was no bite, she wasn't trying to mask her nature, she was too tired to care.
What will you do? Only time matters.
