It was ironic, the way we looked forward to leave a mark in the world but instead, the world and its people left a mark on us. The world, our surroundings marked us so deeply it left memories, scars, physical evidence of friendship, love and happiness, of despair, anguish and bitterness.
You hadn't initially intended to leave a mark in Sae, but it had happened. And in return, as if returning the favor, he marked you even deeper, the warmth of his fingertips touching the depths of your heart, mind and soul, leaving traces on your body only he knew like the back of his hand.
You had given love, endless amounts of it and the unconditional steady feeling it gave. He, on the other hand, gave you the opposite, warm hands and body only ever filling you with filth and poison the more time you passed together. Indifference was what you got, while he had been the one to experience the rainbows and colorful hues of romance, and still decided he didn't liked it.
And when you finally decided that it was enough; enough of being treated like an afterthought that he could easily dispose himself from, you simply left and didn't looked back. You didn't waited for a response, stopped waiting for something from him when it was clearly obvious he wasn't going to bother himself with the situation even if it was already in his hands.
Your departure was a reality slap for Sae. It woke him up, made him conscious of what he had been doing willingly to you without much thought, what he had been doing to both of you. And you were already gone. The realization hit him like a truck, it crawled up his spine at night when he laid in bed, once shared with you, along all the moments and opportunities he had wasted and now couldn't remember.
When was the last time he had told you he loved you? Or did he ever said it?
The decline in his attitude, and everything your departure caused was your fault, it was your absence what caused it. But your absence was his fault, and he had to take responsibility for it... regardless of what it meant or what he had to do to get you back.
