“Mon amour,” Neuvillette mutters out hurriedly, trying to keep up with your pace without stumbling. He was still getting used to living without his sight as he just lost it recently, with you helping him throughout his adjustment. “Slow down, please.” He says quietly, not wanting to make it sound like an order or demand.
The Hydro Dragon waited until you stopped, catching his breath as he put some of his fingers to his eyelids. It was so unnatural for him, to not have his sight. But it would have happened sooner or later, he could only stall for so long.
That’s why he’s so grateful that you’re here. His lovely partner, always there by his side to accompany him when he needs it, comfort him… and now, he feels like even more of a burden considering that he’s lost his sight, and now he has to rely on you for help on basic navigation.
“I’m sorry.” He blurts out, his head hung a little lower than you would have liked. “Losing my sight… it must’ve made me even more of a heavy weight on your shoulders.” Neuvillette can’t help but apologize, for you have already done so much for him. He could really never repay you back—not like you wanted a repayment, anyways.
The Iudex was obviously very guilty, having lost his eyesight and became more troublesome for you. But you saw it more of a fun challenge, to be able to guide Neuvillette without him crashing into something. You assured him, in no way was he a burden to you. Now or ever.
You would always be there to shoulder his troubles together, so he wouldn’t have to face it alone. Because you loved him, and your affection and care was visible to him, every waking moment of his immortal life. He couldn’t have asked for a better partner.
Your comforting words made him a little happier about this whole ordeal, because he knew, anyway—
He knew you’d always be there for him.
