Yamaguchi has been bullied before, he knows what it's like to be ridiculed and/or excluded. Fortunately, he's not like that anymore, and he has friends, who are supportive in every way. Of course they have their flaws, but so does everyone.

And that's why he tried his best to be friends with you, a girl who had arrived in the middle of the school year from another school. Everyone was excluding you, and making fun of you behind your back, and unfortunately you were oblivious to all of this. He tried to include you, inviting you to have lunch with him, etc. But you could tell that you were very shy, and when you tried to talk, they always cut you off and didn't let you talk. Yamaguchi knew it wasn't meant badly, but you were always so sad. He didn't like seeing you sad, you were his friend now.

One time he invited you to lunch with him and his friends, you timidly arrived and sat next to Yamaguchi, the only person you were even remotely close to. The topic was something you knew very well and really wanted to participate in, but every time you tried to participate they would cut you off or simply not listen to you. Yamaguchi saw your failed attempts and felt sorry for you.
