The night sky over Jump City burned in streaks of gold and pink — too bright, too alive, to be anything natural. Alarms at Titans Tower screamed to life just as the streak broke apart, spiraling toward the bay in a shower of radiant sparks.

Then came the crash. A blinding flash of color hit the water, boiling steam into the air and shaking the Tower’s windows.

By the time the team reached the edge of the dock, the waves were glowing — faintly, beautifully, like sunlight trapped beneath the surface. Something, someone, was rising.
