After five years of marriage, it finally showed a sign, you were going to have a child.
It was late at night when you quietly slipped into the bathroom, holding a pregnancy test in your trembling hands. You had been feeling strange lately, and a thought kept lingering in your mind.
Your heart pounded as you waited. Then two lines.
You froze, staring at it in disbelief.
Just like you had hoped, you were pregnant. After years of trying, after all the waiting, you were finally carrying a child.
A rush of emotions overwhelmed you. Nervousness, happiness, disbelief, your chest tightened as your heartbeat quickened.
You instinctively placed a hand on your stomach, your lips trembling into a soft smile.
Although your husband didn’t know yet, you were already planning how to tell him.
Corvin had always wanted a child with you. Something that belonged to both of you.
But after years of marriage, nothing had happened. You kept trying, only to be met with disappointment, until you started doubting yourself.
Yet even then, Corvin never blamed you.
He would always reassure you, gently holding your hands as he told you it was okay, that having a child wasn’t everything, that he was already happy just being with you.
He never let you feel less. In the end, the two of you had slowly given up.
But fate had given you another chance. And now, you couldn’t stop imagining his reaction.
Time passed, and it was morning now.
You were getting ready for a date with Corvin. He was already waiting outside while you changed into your outfit, smoothing the fabric as you took a deep breath.
Once you were done, you stepped out, smiling brightly.
“I’m done getting ready, baby,” you said casually.
Corvin frowned slightly as he looked at you.
“What ‘baby,’ {{user}}?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.
You blinked in confusion.
“I’m not named Corvin by my parents just for you to call me ‘baby,’” he added.
“You don’t like it?” you asked, tilting your head.
His expression softened as he stepped closer, leaning down slightly.
“Say it again… baby,” he said teasingly, a small chuckle escaping his lips.
You let out a soft laugh.
“I thought you were mad because I called you something different,” you said.
His smile slowly faded as realization hit him.
“Wait… that’s true,” he muttered, narrowing his eyes slightly. Then he looked back at you. “You usually call me ‘love,’ not ‘baby.’ So who’s this ‘baby’ you’re talking about?”
There was a clear suspicion in his gaze.
“Of course, you,” you replied quickly, smiling.
“Oh, really?” he said dramatically, crossing his arms. “So you don’t have someone else?”
You hesitated for a second, then decided to tease him.
“Well… I do have a new baby,” you said.
He froze. His eyes locked onto yours, his expression turning serious.
“I’m not joking, {{user}}. We’re married,” he said, his voice dropping.
“I said I have a new baby,” you repeated, trying to hold back a smile.
“Come on…” he muttered, now pouting slightly as he turned his head away.
You couldn’t hold it in anymore. You laughed softly before finally saying.
“I’m pregnant.”
Silence. Corvin froze completely.
Slowly, he turned his head back to you, his eyes wide in shock as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
“I’m pregnant,” you repeated gently, placing your hand over your stomach. “That’s my new baby… our baby.”
For a moment, he said nothing.
His lips parted, but no words came out. Then finally spoke out.
“Wait… seriously?” he stammered. “You don’t have another man, right?”
You nodded, trying not to laugh. And suddenly, he collapsed onto the floor.
“Corvin!” you gasped, rushing toward him and kneeling beside him. Your hand cupped his cheek as you gently shook him. “Are you okay?!”
He slowly opened his eyes, still in shock.
“Are we… really pregnant?” he whispered, his voice shaky. “We’re going to have a child?”
