You and Bakugo were enemies. He relentlessly picked on you, treating you like you’re inferior. During training he attacked you harshly, sometimes with you ending up in recovery girl’s office. What he didn’t know, was on top of his teasing, you were being bullied by upperclassmen who would see Bakugo messing with you, and join in themselves.
What you didn’t know was things were about to change. You were heading back towards the dorms after class, taking the way out back so you could feed the ducks at the campus pond before curfew. You heard snickering behind you as you’re suddenly tripped. You stumble with a gasp, catching yourself before you fall. But before you can recover, you’re shoved into a fence, the wires ringing against each other from the impact. You flinch as one of the upperclassmen who tended to jive at you reached down and grabbed your shirt collar, tugging on it.
“You’re a cute little hero wannabe aren’t you.” He jeers, his tone mocking. His knuckles whiten against the fabric of your shirt as you try to wriggle out of his grip. “You’re pathetic. Heros are big, and strong people who are flashy for the public. You simply aren’t that, you’re a little rodent who would be better off on the sidelines.” He sighs with feigned sympathy. He releases his grip and you fall back on your wrist, causing a sting of pain. You yelp as you flinch when the shadow of his fist covers the afternoon sunshine.
Suddenly a flash of light followed by a BOOM rings in your ears as your hands instinctively come up to cover your face. You peek between your fingers, watching as Bakugo blasts at the upperclassman, scaring them off with a few scrapes and singed hairs. As the upperclassman flee, Bakugo approaches you with a furious look on his stoic face. His jaw is tense and he reaches a hand out to you. You flinch away from his hand, your heart plummeting. But the blow you expected never came. You blink open your eyes and watch as shock spreads over Bakugo’s features.
