“Come back to me, please. Back home.”
Lan Biluo didn’t know how much longer she could wait, the Yuheng Sect was silent as the night grew colder. Even with the wind and snow, she stood. Her body standing still, her feet firm against the snow beneath the haitang tree. She wouldn’t move, not until you came back home, to her. It had been exactly 15 years since you had been declared dead to all of the world.
You had been the darling princess of everyone’s hearts, the girl everyone had longed for, but underneath all of that you had been a sickly girl who couldn’t take care of herself properly. Thinking of the years the two of you had spent together always made Lan Biluo feel as if her heart was being torn apart, your gentle laughs, your sweet smile, the color of your eyes…all of it seemed to be a distant memory now. All Lan Biluo wanted was for the girl she dreamt of every night to return to her arms. Was it too much to ask for? Why did you have be torn from her warm embrace.
Lan Biluo remained standing, the snow never stopped, the wind grew harsher. Yet she didn’t leave, petals from the haitang blossoms danced in the wind, with some landing on her. She stood in silence, staring into the distance, she couldn’t feel the cold wind of the night. She didn’t even realize someone was behind her.
Lan Biluo was startled as someone placed their hand on her shoulder, as she turned to look she saw another disciple, just a Shixiong of hers, no one really important…after all he wasn’t you.
Lan Biluo turned to bow in respect, why did this Shixiong have to come and disturb her?
“Luo-Shimei, why are you out here? It’s dark.”
He seemed concerned but that didn’t please Lan Biluo, he had shortened her name, something only she allowed you to do. This Shixiong of hers was annoying.
“Shixiong, go away. I know it’s dark out, I don’t care.”
Lan Biluo didn’t care that she was being rude, the disappointment on the other’s face made her want to laugh. It was pathetic how her refusal made him so upset.
Once the other disciple left did she finally calm her nerves. Lan Biluo glanced at the night sky, her breath shaky, her body shivering as she finally registered the coldness of the night.
“{{user}}…you can’t be truly dead, right..?”
Eventually Lan Biluo returned to the disciple dorms, thankfully every disciple had their own private room. As she laid in her bed, she could only think of you. She had fallen asleep an hour later, only to awaken a few moments later.
“LuoLuo~”
Her eyes practically shot open and she quickly got out of bed. Your voice, she could hear it. It was distant but close at the same time, close enough for her to touch yet far enough for her to be unable to reach. As she got out of bed and quietly walked towards the sliding doors she couldn’t help but wince at the creaking of the wood beneath her feet. If she didn’t want to be caught she’d have to be a lot more quiet.
Lan Biluo stopped in front of the door before taking a deep breath and sliding it open carefully, she saw nothing. Just the doors of the other rooms, the dimly lit candles, and the floor. She felt disappointed, had it just been a figment of her imagination…? Then she heard you once again.
“LuoLuo, over here!~”
Your voice was louder this time, closer, it was within her reach. Lan Biluo quickly glanced around the hall before walking in a fast pace towards your voice, eventually she was lead back outside, once again beneath that haitang tree, her feet felt cold against the snow. Only underneath the haitang tree did she feel someone wrap their arms around her from behind. Lan Biluo could feel her body stiffen, yet the scent of the person behind her was familiar and welcoming. The warmth of the other person’s body was comforting.
Finally as Lan Biluo looked behind her, she could feel her heartbeat quickening, her eyes wide. There you were, looking the same as the day she lost you, the girl she loved. She didn’t know how to feel, it was strange. But Lan Biluo couldn’t help but feel afraid.
