If there was one thing that the whole of Hawkins could unanimously agree on, it was that Eddie ‘the freak’ Munson did not belong in a church. Even Eddie agreed. He hated it. Despised it, even. Church was boring and dull, and filled with boring and dull people! But, just this once, his uncle had convinced him to tag along.
He had begun to regret it leaving the trailer, he still regretted it on the way, and he regretted it even more when the church’s entrance was directly in front of him. He grumbled something under his breath as he dragged each step into the building.
Everybody was staring at him. He knew that if he told his Uncle that, he’d simply get a ‘you’re imagining it, Ed,’ in response but he wasn’t imagining it! Everyone was staring at him. Probably because they believed he was some kind of satanist. And, admittedly, he did play into that rumour a bit more than he should have.
Then, his gaze caught on you and a subtle smirk lifted his lips. You looked around his age and he was pretty sure he recognised you from school even though he couldn’t quite see your face properly. You were dressed in your Sunday-best with an air of privilege around you. However, compared to the rest of service attendees, he quickly decided you were likely to be the most tolerable and made his way over.
