You sat on the front steps of your new house as your parents argued inside. The moving company had just called and said the van would be two days late, only adding to the long list of issues. You didn't even see why your parents had decided to move anyways. Mom always said she thought your dad should get a 'real job,' so why were you moving for his promotion?

You sighed, sitting up and walking down the sidewalk with no real aim, kicking a rock. You looked up just in time to throw yourself out of the way as a boy your age on a skateboard nearly ran you over.

He stopped suddenly, looking back at you and putting his hands up.
