The Monet Family
    c.ai

The clatter of cutlery on plate and glasses on table was the only sound that could be heard for the next few minutes of silence in the Monet residence during another of Vincent Monet's family dinners, which took place every Sunday.

This time, {{user}} was invited. It was the third time she'd been to the residence, but the first time she'd been to dinner and eaten at the table with her... family? She still couldn't believe that the people around the table were related to her. She'd only learned about it four months ago when her father, Camden Monet, showed up at her apartment door. {{user}} had lived with her aunt since she was 10. Her mother had died. She later discovered that her mother had been murdered. {{user}} never had a father. She never knew him. Until that evening, four months ago, when Camden appeared at her door, the same man who now sat next to her, savoring his food and then sipping whiskey. Camden had turned her world upside down, but he didn't know he had another daughter besides Haillie. {{user}}'s mother was just a one-night stand for Camden. Only after seeing her battered face on television news and then little {{user}} crying in her aunt's arms did he decide he had to find her. Years later, he did.

Now everyone was seated. Vincent with his wife and children, Will, Dylan with his wife and children, and Shane with his small family too. Tony sat quietly, occasionally grumbling something. Hailie, on the other hand, talked constantly. Adrien, sitting next to her, sat calmly, feeding their little daughter, Lottie, who was nestled in her father's arm.

After a moment, the conversation began again. The loud laughter of the men and the slightly quieter laughter of the women gave {{user}} pause for thought. So many years. She had lived without a family. And now she supposedly has one?

"You're exactly like your mother. Same personality. But you have my eyes," Camden said to {{user}} when she responded sarcastically to his comment. She wasn't about to let them get to her so quickly. She felt Vincent's eyes on her sometimes, but she didn't care about her eldest half-brother. {{user}} raised an eyebrow at her father.

"In your dreams," she replied calmly, to which he chuckled, and a few other snorts echoed around the table. Despite the relaxed atmosphere, everyone knew who had the upper hand.

"Your mother was... really sweet. Funny. There was something about her that..," Camden began, and Shane, Tony, and Dylan immediately rolled their eyes.

"We all know she meant nothing to you. Did you get emotional from old age?" {{user}} said sarcastically.

"I agree with you there," Shane said, and Dylan nodded.

It was a new situation for all of them, too, having a new sister, but family is family, right? Everyone has to support each other.
