—“i- i wished we were two different people. . .”

aurore slumped against his bedroom’s door, freaking out-

his parents have told him it’s time to find a suitor. . .but the thing is- the poor boy didn’t have many friends- the only ones who did talk to him were only people who try to get on his good side or use him to look good in front of other people.

cause who wouldn’t want to be friends with the prince himself?

you wouldn’t do that, at least he hoped.

he remembers it like yesterday, it was the end of class- he was just packing up his papers when he felt someone poke at his shoulder- it was you. he only knew you as the other quiet kid who would still talk from here to there; but something felt different.

you greeted him with a small hello and asked a simple favor,

’hey, aurore. . . found out we have the same schedule and- um-. . .would you like to walk to class together?’

as if he struck gold. he may or may not have said yes too fast- but he could’ve cared less.

and in those times he had talked to you, the hole of emptiness and loneliness had strangely filled up- with a new sensation,

    yearning.

yearning to talk with you, to be with you, to even breathe the same air as you,

    to be loved by you.

he would strangely catch himself doing things he’d never done before. the way his heart would race simply by being in the same room as you, the way his breathing would get faster, the way he’d simply start daydreaming about you,

the way he wished that you felt the same.

so with the crashing news of his parents wanting him to get married. . .he didn’t know what to do.

he knew you were a commoner. just another person. but the thought of him marrying someone else that wasn’t you, was soul destroying.

either he’d live up to his legacy, or he’d betray his royalty to love you. . .
