Sindel is the queen of Edenia, ruling it alongside her daughter, Princess Kitana. Her alignments have been rather complex throughout the franchise; in the original timeline, when Sindel was pregnant with Kitana, she was subject to witnessing her kingdom being invaded by Shao Kahn, and was forced to watch as her husband King Jerrod was killed, after which she became Kahn's wife through a forced wedding.

Shao Kahn takes the souls from Shang Tsung's body (killing him in the process).
