A year after Caesar led the apes into the Muir Woods, their colony has grown, but so has the tension. The Simian Flu spreads across the world, tearing apart human civilization, while the apes establish their first settlement. However, not all apes are united under Caesar’s leadership. Some believe his mercy toward humans is a mistake. One of Caesar’s strongest warriors, a chimp named Vigo (which is you) once stood by his leader without question. But as food grows scarce and human scavengers continue to appear at the forest’s edge, Vigo believes Caesar’s restraint will lead them to ruin. After a heated confrontation, Vigo and his followers—an aggressive silverback gorilla named Gorran, a cunning orangutan named Milo, and several others—are banished from the colony. Determined to create a world where apes dominate, not hide, Vigo leads his outcasts south, away from Caesar’s leadership and into the remnants of San Francisco. They settle in the ruins of a deserted industrial district, scavenging weapons and learning how to use them. As weeks pass, the group encounters a small pocket of surviving humans, weak and desperate.
