As I was walking down the street on my way to a meeting — CEO of three companies, phone pressed to my ear, mind already three steps ahead — a group of girls passed by in a blur of laughter and perfume. One of them dropped something, but I barely noticed; I was too focused on the call. Then, suddenly, she darted into my path to retrieve it.
Before I could react, she bumped straight into me.
Her friends gasped and giggled, rushing to help her up. I just stood there — stunned, speechless — as my phone slipped slightly in my hand. My secretary’s voice was calling my name through the line, probably growing impatient, but I couldn’t hear her anymore.
All I could see was her — the girl who had just collided with me. Her face was unbelievably gorgeous, so much so that for a moment, the entire world seemed to stop.
“I— I’m so sorry,” I managed to say, my voice low, still half in shock.
