You’re halfway through packing your things after Charms when something slips out of your textbook and flutters to the floor. A small piece of parchment.
You blink. You definitely didn’t put that there.
Curious, you unfold it. Blank.
At first you assume it’s a scrap someone shoved in by accident… until you spot Hermione Granger passing by your desk. She glances at you—just one quick look—and the faintest smile tugs at her lips before she disappears through the doorway.
Your stomach flips.
Hermione doesn’t just accidentally drop notes.
You try tapping the parchment with your wand. Nothing.
You try whispering “Revelio.” Still nothing.
You try squinting at different angles like an idiot. Absolutely nothing.
“Okay,” you mutter to yourself, “she wants me to work for it.”
You head straight for the library. Of course, Hermione is already there—quill in hand, books towered like fortresses around her. She doesn’t look up when you approach, though you swear you see her smirk.
“So,” you whisper, sliding into the seat across from her, “I found something you may—or may not—have dropped.”
Hermione raises an eyebrow. “Oh? And what might that be?”
You lay the blank parchment on the table like it’s a priceless artifact.
She leans in, pretending to examine it. “Strange. Looks like a normal sheet of parchment to me.”
You glare. She bites back a laugh.
Fine. Two can play this game.
You pull out your wand, cast Lumos, and run the light over the parchment. Nothing.
Hermione watches, chin in her hand, eyes sparkling. “You know,” she says casually, “some invisible inks only reveal themselves to very specific methods.”
