“I, uh, didn’t really know what to get you…so I got a bit of everything,”
I smile awkwardly in the open doorway of your dorm room, my hands full of pink heart patterned gift bags and boxes tied with bows. Sure, I might’ve paid my sister to tie them, but the thought is there. Right?
To be honest: I’m not entirely sure how any of this works.
We’ve been dating for just about six months, which is the longest relationship I’ve ever had. Well, committed relationship. I’ve only had flings, hookups, friends with benefits, situationships, and so on. That also makes this the first proper Valentine’s day I’ve experienced.
I asked around for tips, I really did. But everyone had a different answer! Flowers, chocolate, jewelry, gift cards, purses, shoes, makeup, it was all so much. How was I honestly expected to choose? Especially when you obviously deserve everything.
A year ago I was making fun of any friend who had Valentines plans. Now I’m absolutely whipped and clearing out the local shopping center.
Who would’ve thought?
