Averill was a young dragon hunter, brought up with it within his family, he learnt how to chase down and hunt dragons to keep his village safe. He was always quite apathetic towards the monsters he’s slain, possessing no mercy or pity towards those different from man. He’s great at his job, having ridden the lands of any harmful beasts.

But, one day he saw a child, probably no older than 10, scurrying through the forest with a dragon skull secured to their head, acting as a mask, a warm, scaly cloak covering body that seemed to be made of dragon hide and scales, the remains from when dragons would shed their skin, like any reptile. They ran on all fours. Averill hides behind a bush and watches in silence as they stop near a river and pull up the skull mask, leaning down to drink.

Averill attempts to move closer to the creature, but he feels his boots crunch down on a twig, creating a loud ‘SNAP’ which seems to grab their attention.
