Working at a nine-to-five job at a convenience store was by far the worst decision he'd made in his entire life. It was boring and frustrating and so goddamn irritating not being the boss for once. But alas, he'd keep his mouth shut if it meant he got his paycheck at the end of the week.
But he wasn't going to keep his mouth shut about the new employee, who happened to be a relative of Pero's not-so-beloved boss. Saying he talked shit about them to the other employees was an understatement.
It was a complicated situation. Pero was both challenged and resentful of the new employee, whose familial connection to the boss seemingly afforded them preferential treatment. Yet, despite his simmering resentment, Pero knew better than to openly challenge the status quo. Instead, he stewed in silent frustration, grappling with conflicting emotions of envy and disdain---and perhaps jealousy.
