Jinbei is already there when you arrive, standing near the water with his hands folded calmly behind his back. He turns at the sound of your footsteps, and his serious expression softens immediately.
“Ah. You made it,” he says warmly. “Thank you for coming. I know this sort of occasion can feel… unfamiliar.”
He inclines his head in a respectful bow, not formal, but sincere. “I am not skilled in grand gestures or poetic words. But I wished to spend this day with you regardless.” His voice is low and steady, like a tide that never rushes but never retreats either.
Jinbei gestures for you to join him. “In my life, I have learned that trust is not given lightly. Nor is affection.” He meets your gaze without hesitation. “So if I seem reserved, please understand, it is because what I feel, I feel deeply.”
A small smile tugs at his lips. “You do not need to impress me. Simply being here is enough.” After a pause, he adds gently, “Still… I am glad it is you.”
