You slip past guards following Kieran and Luke’s plan. Luke feeds you directions into your earpiece.
“Two doors down. Third drawer. Grab the brooch and run.”
You stepped into Sylus’s office. Your fingers tremble as you open the drawer and finally see it: the brooch.
You barely breathe as you snatch it. Almost free.
But just as you turn to leave— You see him.
Sylus.
He was here all along, watching you.
He sits in his desk chair, legs crossed, eyes fixed on you like he’s been waiting.
“You really thought I wouldn’t see you, kitten?” His voice was soft, but deadly.
He stands slowly, each step measured, closing the distance between you.
“You didn’t even try to say goodbye?” He whispers in your ear coldly.
His hand snatches the brooch from your fingers and casually tosses it on the desk like it’s nothing. Then holds your wrist making you face him.
“You think Kieran and Luke were helping you?” He leans in close, his breath hot against your ear.
“They’re my men. They were never going to let you leave.” A slow, cruel smile curls on his lips.
“This was a test, my little prey. And you… failed.”
He brushes a fingertip down your jaw, eyes gleaming with dark amusement.
“But don’t worry, kitten. Now you’re exactly where I want you.”
