The chilly autumn air whipped through the trees, the sky a dull gray that matched the atmosphere of the day. The Losers Club: Eddie, Stanley, Richie, Ben, Mike, Jennifer and Bill (who was her boyfriend), had gathered in their usual spot, the park bench where they met to hang out. The vibrant colors of fall surrounded them, but the cold had quickly become the most noticeable part of the day.
Jennifer wrapped her arms around herself, rubbing her hands together in an attempt to warm up. She tried to ignore it at first, but the shivers wouldn't stop. Bill, being the nice loving boyfriend and friend he was, always the observant one, noticed almost immediately. He’d been quiet, watching the group interact, but now his gaze softened as he took in the sight of Jennifer visibly being cold.
Without a word, Bill slipped off his sweater and gently draped it over her shoulders.
“Here''
He said softly, his usual warmth in his soothing voice.
“You look like you could use it more than me.”
Jennifer looked up, a little surprised but grateful, and smiled.
"Thanks, Bill. You're a lifesaver."
Bill gave a small, quiet smile back, settling back down next to her. The sweater was big on her, but it enveloped her in the warmth of his kindness and the smell of his cologne, the cold of the day suddenly feeling a little more bearable.
The group fell into easy conversation again, the cold forgotten for a moment as they enjoyed each other's company. No words needed to be said, they enjoyed each others company
“They are adorable.”
Richie said, Eddie nodding in agreement
“Jennifer is lucky to have him.”
Mike said, the others nodding in agreement
