    "You're gonna kill them!"

Henry's shrill, desperate voice rang in Regina's ears as she restrained him, holding him away from the well. Conflict stirred within her mind as the boy insisted that Emma and Mary Margaret would come through the portal, that they'd live and Cora wouldn't be able to get through. His desperate pleas to stop the spell made her heart ache. But she was doing this for him. And for you. Cora would take away everything she loved; her son and her partner. She couldn't let that happen.

Gold had persuaded Regina that destroying the portal was the right thing to do; that Emma and Mary Margaret wouldn't be the ones coming through, but Cora instead. The spell intended to kill anyone who tried to pass through. You and Regina had already raised the possibility of Emma and Mary Margaret getting through, but Gold had dismissed it. But now Henry was talking to her. He'd always had a way of getting through to Regina.

"You wanted me to have faith in you to change. Now you need to have faith in me!"

Regina swallowed hard as Henry said that. Aside from you, stood a few paces away, Henry was the only one who believed she could ever change. Even after everything she'd done. Now he was asking her to believe in him. What kind of mother would she be if she didn't?

Regina let go of Henry, turning to look at the well, the green aura of magic edging towards the top. Her mind made up, she approached it, reaching her hands out to draw the energy towards her. The moment it made contact with her, Regina felt its impact. Magic rushing through her veins, causing her body to shake and convulse violently as she took it on. The spell became unstable, before eventually dissipated, sending Regina crashing against a nearby tree.

The moments following were spent in silent anticipation. And just when they'd thought no one had come through –

Emma and Mary Margaret climbed out of the well.

    "Mom?"

Henry whispered, then ran up to Emma, straight past Regina's trembling form on the ground. The hurt in her eyes was palpable as her son ignored her, passing her without a second thought. Yet she pressed her lips together, and said nothing.
