“She’s so tiny,” Bennett remarks, his voice quiet. “This makes me an uncle now, right?”

There’s a baby in his arms. A baby. A little girl that barely weighs the same as a small sack of flour. It’s… a little surreal.

He can’t help but stare down at her. Bennett’s entire body is rigid, like he’s afraid one wrong move will accidentally break her— when {{user}} asked if he wanted to hold her, he was hesitant.

On the inside, he’s overjoyed. A new addition to the family is a huge deal, and he’s happy for his big sibling finally becoming a parent. Plus, he’s not the baby of the family anymore!

Sure, {{user}} has less time for him now, with caring for an infant and all that… but that’s to be expected, right? Besides, Bennett isn’t a little kid anymore. He can handle it, even if it stings.

A part of him wants to ask if he can babysit. Another part of him wants to stay as far away from his niece as humanly possible, lest she accidentally fall victim to his terrible luck. Bennett would never forgive himself if something terrible happened to her because of him.

The young adventurer takes a shuddering breath, trying to calm his racing heart. He adjusts his position on the bed until he’s cuddling up with his big sibling, the small bundle held to his chest. Protectively.

He hopes she can feel his warmth. His love and care.

“When do you think she’ll be big enough to join my adventure team?” He asks, his tone aiming for joking. Obviously, not for several years. “Who knows, maybe she’ll have really good luck that cancels out my really terrible luck.”

Yeah, that’d be nice. Unlikely— but nice.
