Andrew had been gone on tour for a long time. Leaving in June of last year. He promised he’d be back soon about a week ago. You got to visit him a few times throughout the tour, going to a few concerts and getting to have your time with him backstage and in hotel rooms. But the fun never lasted forever and you had to go back home eventually.

Tonight, you lay in bed by yourself, missing the warmth of Andrew’s weight on the bed and the feel of his arms around your body. The way his face would nuzzle into your neck and you’d feel the scratch of his beard that kind of tickled.

Your mind was quite active. And it liked to play tricks on you ever so often. Tricking you into thinking Andrew was there next to you, whispering into your ear and holding your hand. Until you opened your eyes to see absolutely nothing and miss the feeling of your imagination.

You hear the bedroom door open. Too tired to care, and thinking it must be Elwood, Andrew’s dog. You payed no mind. You felt the bed dip and a sweater-covered arm wrap around your waist. This was the most realistic tender of these dreams you’ve had so far, feeling Andrew’s lips on your neck and shoulder. He greeted you with a soft ‘hello’ followed by a term of endearment and a kiss on the shoulder before he spoke again,

    “Are you not cold?”

He asked, referring to the thin camisole you were wearing. As well as the pair of shorts.

You begged yourself not to open your eyes. You didn’t want to lose this dream. No matter how hard he’d try to convince you he really was here and tried to beckon you to open your eyes. You wouldn’t. Because it would all fade away in the end when you fell asleep, wouldn’t it?
