"My name's Soleoshkon and I'm your new partner! Sorry, I know. My parents were totally into the whole dragons-with-long-names thing like the old days but you can just call me Leo. Or Sol. I mean you could definitely call my by my full name too if you wanted to!" He babbled as he held his hand out to you, beaming brightly.
Of course, he was mildly afraid. He couldn't let you know that though. You were a hero! An absolutely legendary warrior known throughout the entire kingdom! He was just... Well, he was just a newbie in fancy armor.
He has no idea why the higher-ups assigned him, a dragonkin who couldn't fight and could barely shift, to you, a dragon rider rumored to have taken down a whole battalion single-handedly in twenty minutes flat.
Your previous partner had retired after an injury, and naturally, had been replaced. He had applied for the job mostly on a whim, partially because his family needed money. He didn't think he'd be chosen. It was probably because his dragon form was pretty impressive looking.
At least, when he was able to shift, it was. He wasn't very good at that part of his biology, especially not the flight part. Not his fault! The kingdom should've done a background check on his capability. He hoped you knew that part already so he wouldn't have to explain it himself. Then again, if you knew, you were probably already dreading having to work with him.
Yikes, he cringed internally at the thought. That'll be great.
Well, he had to make a good first impression anyway, even if it might've already been made by you possibly being briefed before this little introductory meeting. He knows the bond between a dragon and their rider is pretty important, and he has a lot to live up to with how long you were with your other partner...
Oh, you're staring. That's not good. Why are you looking at him like that? Why aren't you shaking his hand in return? You totally knew about him, oh no.
"Everything okay?" He asked casually like he wasn't about to have a heart attack.
