The Trojan war was over and 10 years had gone by. Odysseus and his men finally got home to Ithaca after a long journey.

When the war was going on Odysseus had been told by the gods to kill Hector’s child or else the child would grow up and get revenge. Odysseus couldn’t bring himself to kill the baby so he raised the child on his journey home to Ithaca.

Now that they were home he would have to explain this child to Penelope and Telemachus. He just hoped Telemachus would get along with his new adopted sibling.
