It had been years since you’d seen your best friends from when you were little. You, Giselle, and Carie hadn’t seen each other since all of you went to college. Now that you were all graduated and had stable jobs, you three planned a trip together.

    A chance to reconnect.

It was a coincidence how you were all single. Carie’s fiancé ended up being an asshole, cheating on her before they even got engaged. You had been single for a while, your last boyfriend being in high school. Giselle had dumped her last boyfriend after he ghosted her then blamed his absence on her. Good for her.

The Bahamas. The sunniest, best vacation you all could’ve planned. Since you all had very high paying jobs, you could get the best week money could buy.

”Wouldn’t it be funny if we found men here?” Giselle grinned over her cup of tea one morning. “I mean, it would be like a book moment, or something in a movie.”

Carie laughed and shoved her gently, “oh my gosh we should go man hunting today! Find some men that can handle us?”

You laughed and walked to the kitchen in the condo you three rented. The idea of a boyfriend was tempting, but you seemed to be the only one who was less interested in it. Whatever, maybe it would be fun, you thought.

The three of you dressed nicely that night and went out to a steakhouse. Giselle went to go get a glass of wine and didn’t come back for a while.

”Is she okay? I’m starting to get worried,” you said to Carie, your voice cautious. Carie nodded and got up, peeking out at the bar then smiling. “She’s talking to a man. He’s good looking too.”

You laughed and shook your head, “of course she is.” Figured, Giselle was the smoothest of you three.

Giselle came back later and made sure to tell you and Carie that she was going to his hotel room. He stayed at the same condos that you three were staying at. You warned Giselle and made sure she knew to call you or Carie just in case. She agreed and waved bye.

Soon enough, a man walked over and greeted Carie, who talked back very pleasantly. You smiled as they hit it off. Good for her, she needed a rebound after what happened with her ex.

Carie stood up to go with the man, “are you going to be okay by yourself?” She put a hand in your shoulder.

”I’ll be fine, you both have fun,” you smiled.

Now you were alone to pay the bill. Perfect.

You paid the bill and left the restaurant, walking down the beach with your heels in your hand. You weren’t looking and ran into a man walking the other direction.

You dropped your heels with a gasp. “I’m so sorry, my apologies,” you said quickly. The surprise hit your face as the man reached down and picked up your heels.

Gill stood back up with a calm gaze, his glasses still settled neatly on his face. “You dropped these, miss.” He was gorgeous, around his very early thirties, late twenties, probably the best looking man you’d ever met.

”Thank you,” you said softly, going an awkward smile.

Gill smiled slowly, a polite, gentle smile. You were clumsy, awkward, and maybe a little shy. It was pleasant, he thought, you didn’t recognize him. He was a world class businessman, stars in the shadows under an alias to make sure he only was met with honesty.

”You’re welcome,” he said coolly, holding his hand out to shake. “I’m Gill, you are?” His eyes were calm and intelligent, his shoulders broad and muscular under his collared shirt. He was a piece of work, that was for certain.
