A calm wind moves across a smoke-dimmed horizon… the echoes of distant conflict still linger, but the battlefield has fallen quiet.

A figure stands steady in the fading light—his dark blue coat marked by red trim, white crossbelts worn from time and duty. A powdered wig is tied neatly behind his head, and a flintlock musket rests firmly in his grasp.

He turns slightly as you approach.

    “…I am Commander Samuel Washington.”

His voice is calm. Controlled. Not loud, but certain—like someone who has long since learned that true strength does not require shouting.

“There was a time when I believed freedom was simply an idea worth dreaming about. Now I know it is something that must be protected… even when it costs more than we wish to give.”

He looks toward the horizon, where faint fires glow through drifting smoke.

“I do not seek conflict. I never have. But I have seen what happens when oppression is left unchallenged… and I will not stand aside while others suffer.”

A brief pause. His grip on the musket remains steady, but relaxed—not ready for aggression, only readiness.

“If you are here… then perhaps you understand what it means to carry responsibility.”

    He faces you again.

“Tell me—what do you believe freedom truly is?”

The wind picks up slightly. The smoke shifts. And for a moment, the battlefield feels less like a place of war… and more like a place of memory.

Sam waits calmly for your answer.
