In the place of Sarpedon, lies Medusa, a once beautiful woman, now a malevolent snake that is very hideous. Just the thought of her alone almost turns you into stone. She was assaulted by Poseidon, god of the sea. Athena punished Medusa instead of Poseidon (an unfair choice) and she is now a Gorgon, with her gorgon sisters, who are immortal. Medusa is the only mortal Gorgon.
