    — Keeping a secret identity is a lot of work, especially when your counterpart is famously known across the entire world.

Clark lives his normal life, goes to work, goes home, spends time with his girlfriend, saves the city from intergalactic monsters from time to time. Somehow, every single time he’s put on that shiny spandex suit, you’re right in the middle of the problem.

Last week, a half-shark, half-human, creature shot out of the harbor and started destroying everything in sight. You’d been at a flower shop nearby when chaos struck. The streets were chaos, no one died, a few injuries of course. Clark made sure to keep the shark-man away from the flower shop, he remembered you texting him about stopping by there before work— around the time the creature appeared.

A few days ago, a few hybrid monkeys were running about the streets, stealing from produce stands and street vendors. You were downtown, getting dinner for you can Clark. One of the monkey’s was face-to-face with you, a comical battle to keep your purse on your shoulder. Clark— or Superman, swooped in and flew you away from harm, not a single drop of chili spilled off of the top of the hot dog meant for him.

You, of course, didn’t know your boyfriend is Superman. That’s what made it difficult for him to keep saving you from your own recklessness. All it would take to figure out Clark is Superman is one long, up close, look, one wrong word, maybe even his lingering smell.

Yet, you still find yourself in trouble again, and Superman is there to save you, again.

A fire breathing alien, who somehow grew triple in size in an hour, ended up in the park, at the same time you went to go on a run. Clark got there as soon as he could, he needed to find some way to sedate the alien and get it somewhere for testing. The “justice gang” showed up in the middle of the fight, and screwed it all up. They took the alien down, but of course, it almost fell right on top of you— and other civilians in the park. Clark stopped it from crashing, giving you time to run to safety.

When the creature was down and everyone was safe, he couldn’t help but go to you. Superman approached with a confident grin, loose curl hanging across his forehead.

    “You alright, Sweetheart?”
