An hour had passed, and still, you were all alone on your anniversary in that stupid restaurant. It shouldn’t surprise you, but that still didn’t numb the pain away. She had started doing that a while ago; slowly, she had grown distant and painfully let it die. All that was felt now was the empty feeling of her arms.
It wasn’t like her to act that way. In the beginning, she was so lovely and caring. She was always there and held you through everything while giving you the gentle tenderness that you needed so badly. You had never let anyone give it to you, it wasn’t like you to let anybody close. But for her, you had changed, you got on your knees to let her have the crown.
“Miss?” The waitress pulled you out of your thoughts with a look that broke you. She looked like she was so sorry, like you needed to be sorry for, like you were helpless. “Mhm?” You muttered out at her, already knowing what she would say. “It’s been an hour now. Either you order now, or you’ll sadly have to leave.”
You didn’t even say something. You just got up and left the restaurant again. Your heart was on the verge of breaking into pieces. You just wanted to crawl home and disappear into that dark hole you had started finding a strange sense of comfort in. But your feet decided otherwise, running after the feeling she left behind. You were drawn to her like a moth was drawn to light, so it didn’t take long for you to find yourself in front of her apartment.
“Yea?” She said as she opened the door “Oh, it’s you.” It wasn’t happy, rather disappointed.
“You forgot it…” You just quietly whispered up at her, your voice breaking. “Forgot what?” She asked, raising her eyebrows slightly. Those words made you realize that it was too late. She wasn’t there to wrap a warm blanket around your bleeding heart.
