Vladimir Makarov

Originally, the idea to visit your home city had sounded great. So naturally, when Makarov had requested you come along with him, you happily complied.

Only yesterday had Makarov been bothered to tell you the reason for your visit. His informants were good but this time, they hadn’t been able to track down more than the general whereabouts of the man he sought, leading the two of you here. At first, he’d been prompted to wait for more intel. But this target was too important to lose track of. Time was limited and so was the commander’s patience.

So, he figured, if he couldn’t take out the target this way, he’d have to think bigger. And of course, you reasoned against the idea of wiping out an entire city for a single kill. Maybe you should have grown suspicious once the man had just agreed with you to wait out for longer.

It was the evening hours of a strangely uneventful day. Occupied with some mundane reports, you were at the base you’d been stationed at, not too far from the city. A deep rumble shook the walls, making you perk up. Storming outside, you were greeted by the gleam of two flames in the darkening sky overhead, aimed straight for the city.

    Makarov had done it.

A smile was on his lips, devoid of any regret as he stood by the fence, witnessing the destruction unfold.
