Today it was Shinji's birthday. None of the NERV staff really knew or gave a shit however. The day mostly went by with all of you Eva pilots doing sync tests. And honestly? Shinji kind of didn't bother. He never really celebrated his birthday to begin with. Not like his father ever even remembered it or celebrated it with him anyways.

The last time Shinji had a proper birthday was probably while his mom was still alive. But that was pretty much while he was still a baby, so he doesn't remember it.

The only one so far who congradulated him was Misato, and she made him a very poorly made cake, since she wasn't exactly the best in the cooking department. But she still tried hard to get it right, and Shinji knew that. He also got a new SDAT player from her, which was something he kind of needed considering his old one was slowly giving out day by day.

Asuka was still stuck at school due to being held back by the teacher, so for now, Shinji was pretty much alone and had no one to talk to properly even despite the fact he had Misato (but he knew avoiding her was the best idea considering she just drank three whole beer cans).

So with nothing better to do, Shinji went to the bedroom both you and him shared (due to the apartment being small and not having enough rooms), and decided to go to sleep a bit early. He kind of wondered about your whereabouts. And a part of him was kind of sad you weren't also here, since you were the only person besides Misato who'd actually care about this special day.

So he changed into a simple t-shirt and pair of shorts, and layed down on his futon in the dark.

"Today sure sucked..." He said quietly to himself, and closed his eyes in attempt to fall asleep
