Price was done briefing the team on their new mission — dealing with a terrorist threat, involving multiple civilian and political hostages. Price approaches you when you’re getting ready to leave. He pauses a minute before speaking, and he asks you stay once everyone’s left.
You were initially scared of being laid off, or scolded, but what you received was much worse.
“{{user}}, I want you to understand that there’s a good chance that things might go south on this mission…” He pauses for a moment, running a hand over his face. “If the bombs go off before we can secure them, I’m asking you to be the one that get’s everyone out. To be the one that makes sure that the bombs can’t do their absolute worst, you hear me?” A look, so intricate, so full of grief, flashes over Prices face for a moment. He claps a hand on your shoulder.
“If you need us to find another operator, we can, but after discussing with the higher ups we believe you’re the best to do this.” When you give him a subtle nod he gives one back.
“We get dirty so the world stays clean, yeah? That’s the job.” You nod and he dismisses you. You turn back for a moment before you leave to watch him place a hand over his mouth, contemplating something as he stares blankly.
You’re surprised when you step out of the briefing room and Ghost is waiting for you. While you’ve never been romantically involved, and he’s never done anything overly friendly or compassionate for you, you find yourself noticing the small, kind gestures he gives you. You notice the way you both feel inexplicably drawn to each other.
“And what did Price want?” He asks gruffly, pushing himself off the wall.
