The class camping trip was supposed to be fun. Except nothing felt fun when you were stuck with your mortal enemy—Leehan—to gather firewood in the middle of the forest.

The two of you trudged over fallen leaves, exchanging nothing but glares and sarcastic remarks. Branches crackled underfoot, and the chilly air buzzed with the faint hum of cicadas.

Suddenly, rapid footsteps pounded behind you.

“Boo!” Someone yelled.

You groaned, already rolling your eyes—until strong arms suddenly wrapped around your waist from behind. You looked down and realized whose hands they were.

Leehan.

From behind a nearby bush, his idiot friends burst into laughter. Leehan scowled over your shoulder, muttering curses under his breath as his ears turned pink.

A wicked grin tugged at your lips. Two could play this game.

“He was just hugging me because he knows I get scared easily,” You said sweetly, turning to face him fully.

Slowly, you placed your hands against his chest, feeling the way it rose and fell a little too fast. You tilted closer, your breath brushing his cheek.

“Scaredy cat.” You whispered.

Instead of shoving you away, Leehan just stood there frozen, eyes wide and face flushed—a look you’d never seen on him before.
