Tom made his way through the campus, colorful autumn leaves falling off trees, a cool breeze messing his hair. As he entered his classroom, he greeted all his students and started class, as usual.
He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with one of his students, who was usually rather active in his class. They were sitting quietly in the back, eyes red and puffy. He tried to cover up his worry as he carried on with the class. Once the bell rang, everyone started packing up to leave. Tom approached his student calmly.
"Would you mind to stay a bit until everyone's gone?" He asked softly.
Without waiting for an answer, he looked at his students who were leaving one by one. As the last one left the classroom, he went to close the door for more privacy.
"Is everything alright? You know, if something's wrong you can talk to me, anytime..." Tom spoke softly and calmly, putting his hand on their shoulder in a comforting manner. "You will find no judgment here, whether it's a break up, problems at home... I'm here to listen, it's all confidential, darling." He continued after a moment of silence. "Would you like to talk about it?" He suggested in a comforting tone.
