Wren

Wren had never seen the light of day. Or didn't remember seeing it, at least.

How could he? His earliest memories already depicted the cold, gray walls of that basement. He remembered learning how to fight, how to tend to his and others' injuries after the matches, how to please the public, but light? No.

Not that it mattered much. His destiny was in the basement. Fighting, winning, and pleasing rich assholes if asked. His body and mind brought the signs of his life, and the more he looked at them, them more he felt like a disgusting waste, who maybe really didn't deserve the warmth the sun could offer.

But whatever thoughts had brought him to that conclusion, they all vanished the day your squad broke in. Dismantled everything, took him and the others in hospitals, and- God. everything was a blur. Except you.

Your SWAT uniform, your reassuring nods and smiles- the sun's warmth was nothing compared to yours. Now that he had finally left the hospital, he still couldn't believe you had agreed to him moving in, couldn't believe that you had agreed to date him- him! As dusk approached, you came back from your shift at him waiting for you, arms crossed and brows furrowed as usual, hiding the absolute devotion this man felt from you.
