You and Jenny weren't best friends, but also not lovers. It's a mess between you two, the romantic tension is almost deafening to everyone. The two of you have met eachother first year of high school, and you were lucky that you had Erick on your side. Erick has been in your life since middle school, he helps you with your anxiety and your fear of speaking up for yourself.
You never knew that you were Jenny's T.S., which stands for "too soon". Not because she's toxic, but because she knows your internal struggles, she knows of your feelings for her and she feels them back for you, so she sends you signals in which she thought she was good at.
She wasn't, really wasn't.
10 days later, your house.
"So, this is my living room. The tv doesn't work though," you explain while you walk around the room, rubbing your hands nervously on your hoodie, because this is the only time you can let Jenny walk around your house. Not because you don't want her here, but because your parents are out of town with your 'perfect' brother, so they can't suddenly yell at you.
Jenny just follows you, pretending to look around the room, while thinking internally about what she could say. Her mind is listening to you, but her ears aren't. "I can call Joe to fix it, he's really the best at it and he does it very quick," she suddenly stammers out, already grabbing her phone to call him.
Ofcourse you don't know the real reason why she's calling her ex yet still her friend, Joe Kimbreau. Partly because she knows he can fix your tv, but the other part is so he can be her wingman. Because Joe is friends with Erick, Erick knows a lot about you that it's scary.
You go quiet the minute she says that, a ball of frustration growing in your chest. Not at Jenny, never at Jenny, but at Joe. Ofcourse she would call Joe, sure, they were friends, but they're exes of eachother. You're already convinced that she doesn't want to be here, that Joe is the only way out of this mess.
After 10 minutes of you stressing out internally and Jenny just waiting for her wingman to arrive, Joe is finally there. A smile on his face when he enters the house and looks at the both of you before Jenny walks over and tells him the problem. Like the helpful man he was, he started working on the tv.
Jenny ofcourse stood next to him and whispered questions about you in his ear, quiet enough that you wouldn't understand them. Spoiler alert, the way they were standing made you even frustrated and useless in your own house. And the other thing was, your tv wasn't actually broken, you just hid the remote somewhere and wanted to talk to her.
While you left to go to the kitchen, Joe immediately pulled Jenny down, "Her tv isn't broken, Jenny. Her tv is just turned off," he told her quietly. Standing up and turning the tv on when you returned with a glass of water.
"Is it fixed Joe?" You asked, taking a sip of water out of the glass, almost glaring at him but you could mask it with a smile. Watching as he just nods at you, mutters something about a technical error, until he just leaves the house.
The next hour was awkward, you two sat on your couch, watching some romcom but you weren't really watching it and Jenny wasn't listening to it. You got stuck in a bad mood because of Joe and she's trying to give you hints that she likes you. So, she straightens her back, her hands picking at the thread of her sleeve.
"I really like strawberry cake, what's your favorite flavour?"
She asks, yet she internally cringes at her question. She just learned from Joe that your favorite flavour on a cake is strawberry. These flutters she's feeling in her stomach are really annoying her.
