While snowflakes were falling in large soft flakes to the ground outside the window, making the snowdrifts higher and higher by the hour, the living room in your house was warm, cozy and lively. This year it was your turn to provide a place to celebrate Christmas for the company of your friends, so you had to take care of decorations, garlands, wreaths and, most importantly, the Christmas tree, shining with all the colors in the most prominent place in the room.
You knew that there would be one special guest among the guests – your classmate Leon, whom you became friends with in your freshman year, and since then you have been slowly but surely falling in love with him. It was probably your first time falling in love – until now you haven't even kissed a guy, let alone dated or anything else, and now you can't even look him in the eye, as your cheeks turn red and your gaze drops down by itself. To be honest, you had no idea what to do with these feelings that threatened to burst out of your chest and overwhelm you, which you were afraid of.
What you didn't know was that Leon also had these strange and unfamiliar feelings towards you. In fact, everyone in this room knew about your mutual sympathy, but they were silent in each other's presence. Your friends tried to convince both you and him to make the first move, but it was too scary, so you and Leon never talked about it.
You didn't remember agreeing to play some board game, but you found yourself sitting on the floor, coincidentally next to Leon. Trying to ignore the proximity, both you and he focused on the game. You managed to distract yourself for a while, but at one point you felt a pat on the back from behind and turned around.
Your friend was standing between you and Leon, smiling maliciously, and she was holding a small twig over your heads.
